How It Works

How it works

GVonline is an online marketplace with the largest user-posted inventory of unused gift vouchers/cards. It connects buyers and sellers, allows them to negotiate, and arrive at a workable price that benefits both parties. Hence, it will be the cheapest for the buyer and mostly a definite sale for the seller. Below mentioned is the step-by-step flow of the system (in case of the buyer or seller flow, please refer to the appropriate section).

  1. Seller posts the voucher/card.
  2. GVonline does the preliminary validation and makes the post live.
  3. Buyers can choose from the various seller postings.
  4. Buyers can negotiate with the sellers for the price (Only using the negotiate function can you pass the negotiated amount to the Payment Gateway).
  5. Buyer shall get the voucher code/card via an email or through shipment of the voucher/card.
  6. If found that the voucher is used or is invalid against the terms of usage, buyers can raise a dispute to hold the payment to the seller.
  7. Once a dispute is raised, GVonline shall get involved and resolve the dispute either in the buyer’s or the seller’s favor.
  8. If the transaction is smooth, the seller shall receive the payment through defined payment methods.

Buying Gift Vouchers/Cards

GVonline has the largest inventory of user postings. These gift vouchers/cards are posted here, as the seller does not find use for them. GVonline asks the seller to post it, does a validation of the voucher at the back-end, and makes the post live. These gift cards can either be used for gifting purposes or the buyers can themselves use them at the time of shopping/purchase. The kind of gift vouchers/cards that GVonline allows the user to post are:

  • Physical voucher – These are paper vouchers and you need them to be shipped (GVonline does not have any shipping policy, it shall help by talking to the seller to make sure you have received the gift cards).
  • Digital voucher/card – These vouchers/cards can be emailed/WhatsApp (GVonline shall deliver through any of the digital mediums).
  • Conditional vouchers – Some of the user-posted vouchers may have terms and conditions which will be mentioned in the description. Please check the description for the same; however, if you don’t find it useful, please reach out to GVonline to understand more about the gift card/voucher you want to purchase.

Steps to Buy the voucher/card:

  1. Browse through the vouchers/cards listed on GVonline.
  2. Choose the voucher/card you want to purchase.
  3. Go through the description to understand the offering from the seller.
  4. In case you feel that the voucher cost is high, use the negotiate option to reduce the price (this, however, is a seller’s call; GVonline does not intervene here).
  5. Once the rates are finalized, click on “Buy now” or move the gift card to “Add to cart.”
  6. You can add up to 10 gift cards into your cart and then move it to “Checkout.”
  7. Use the appropriate payment methods to complete the transaction.
  8. Once the payment is made, depending on the type of voucher, GVonline shall send you the details of the voucher.

Delivery Process: Delivery of gift cards once purchased may take up to 48 hours, depending on the verification process. Note: In case of physical vouchers, a physical address is mandatory. GVonline customer care personnel shall collect it from you. In case of any issues in buying or information related to a particular voucher, please feel free to write to us at info@gvonline.in. Your issues are generally solved within 30 minutes.

Other benefits

  • Buyers may raise a dispute on the purchase if the vouchers/cards are not valid; the payment shall be held back to the buyer (Buyer Protection Policy of GVonline).
  • Money shall not be transferred immediately to sellers; time to raise a dispute – 48 hours from the purchase time.
  • GVonline team shall always be there to help you, and your complete money shall be refunded if the dispute is resolved in the buyer’s favor.

How to Raise a Dispute:

In case of any concerns over the purchase made on GVonline.in, you can always raise a dispute as GVonline is bound by the “Buyer Protection” scheme in which any buyer who does not get what they are entitled to as per the purchase made shall be protected either by providing the same value gift card (this can happen only if there is a different post available with the same value) or the entire amount shall be refunded to their bank account.

What are the reasons to raise a dispute?

  • A different brand gift card was delivered to you.
  • This gift card was not accepted at the merchant, and the terms to the effect were not mentioned.
  • The balance on the card was not as per what was mentioned in the post.
  • The gift card was expired.

What reasons will not be accepted for a purchase dispute?

  • As a buyer, you have selected the wrong brand.
  • Did not read the terms of usage.
  • In any other cases, it shall be examined and resolved by the GVonline dispute team.

Steps to Raise a Dispute:

  1. Log into GVonline.in.
  2. Go to the “Profile” section.
  3. Click on the “Purchases” menu.
  4. Choose the “Purchase” on which you want to raise a dispute and click on the “Raise a Dispute” button.
  5. Please leave notes for the disputes team to refer to the nature of the dispute.

How to Negotiate with the Seller:

The negotiate feature is available for all the postings made. However, it is the seller’s choice to “Accept” or “Decline” a negotiation.

Steps to Send a “Negotiate” Request:

  1. This feature is available to only logged-in users.
  2. Choose the gift card you would like to negotiate the price for and click on “Negotiate.”
  3. It will open a window; on the left side of the text area, there is a “Negotiate” button. Click that to open the negotiate box.
  4. Enter the amount you want to negotiate and click on “Submit.”

Steps to Accept or Reject a Negotiation:

  1. This feature is available only when you are logged in.
  2. A notification shall be available in the Notification section on the top header menu of the site.
  3. Alternatively, you can go to the “Profile” section and click on the “Negotiate” menu.
  4. Here are all your negotiation requests; choose the post on the right-hand side and you will find the options for Accept and Reject within the window.

Note: Once the seller has accepted the negotiation request, the price for the particular post will automatically be changed for the buyer who has requested the same.

Selling Gift Vouchers/Cards

GVonline is a marketplace to sell your unused vouchers. There could be multiple reasons why you do not want to use the vouchers/cards; now you can sell them on GVonline. Once you have posted on GVonline, a large number of buyers are looking for these vouchers. The kind of vouchers/cards you can post on GVonline:

  • Physical Voucher – Can be listed on GVonline. The team shall get back to you for details about the physical voucher (may also ask for an image of the voucher/card as a part of the validation).
  • Digital Voucher/Card – The team at GVonline shall validate these vouchers from the principal institution.
  • Conditional Vouchers – Vouchers/cards which can be used at a specific outlet or a type of transaction in a large aggregator scenario; a clear instruction on where it can be used and how it works should be mentioned.

Steps to Sell the Voucher/Card:

  1. List the voucher/card by filling the appropriate details in our “Seller Form.”
  2. GVonline shall verify your post and, in case of any missing information, they may get back to you for details (in case of a physical voucher, it may be a photo of the actual voucher/card).
  3. Buyers may negotiate on your post; it is completely in your (seller’s) discretion to accept or decline the offer – this information is available under the “Profile -> Negotiate” section for you to get a history of all your negotiations.
  4. Once the payment is done on GVonline, a message shall be sent to you validating the sale; however, this is not considered the final payment call.
  5. Settlements shall be initiated to the bank account after 72 business hours from the time of purchase.

Note: All transfers shall be initiated only if there are no disputes raised on the purchase. There shall be a transaction fee of 5% on the final selling price, which shall be deducted from the amount to be deposited in your Bank/Paytm accounts.

You are requested to:

  • Delete the post if you want to use the voucher/card.
  • Valid vouchers/cards shall be posted; there shall be a check done before sending the voucher to the buyer. If it fails, then the money shall not be transferred to your account.
  • Terms of usage must be very clear as buyers can raise a dispute on the transaction.

Note: You will need to send your KYC (Aadhar or PAN) to deposit@gvonline.in if you are posting gift cards/vouchers which have a “Selling Price” of 5000 INR or more.
